Mac OS X (beta 1) - MacBGEditorX.hqx
MacBGEditor is a saved game editor for the Macintosh
version of Baldur's Gate. It is freeware written for fun. None of the
official parties involved with the game (Interplay, Bioware, Black Isle,
Graphic Simulations, Rosetta) has anything to do with this program.
Use this software as is. I cannot guarantee against data loss or any
other problems including global warming.
Mac OS X version is still beta but appears to
work fine. It has an identical feature set to the other version.
System Requirements and Getting Started
If you can run Baldur's Gate you can run this.
I have only tested it on an iMac with OS 9.0.4, 9.1 and Mac OS X
Mac OS X version does not need any additional
files.
Non-Mac OS X need the following:.
-MRJ 2.2.x (earlier versions may work. whatever was installed with your
OS is probably OK. You shouldn't need to download this.)
-Sun's JFC/Swing 1.1.1 for Macintosh
MRJ is available from Apple at the URL
http://developer.apple.com/java/classic.html
Sun's JFC/Swing should be here:
http://www.javasoft.com/products/jfc/download.html
After getting JFC/Swing you must place the swingall.jar
file in the following folder:
System Folder/Extensions/MRJ Libraries/MRJClasses
In the same folder you should see
JDKClasses.zip
MRJClasses.zip
Using MacBGEditor
Double click MacBGEditor to launch the program.
Click Open and go to the folder of the saved game you want to edit.
Open BALDUR.GAM, NOT BALDUR.SAV.
Modify stats to your heart's content but don't
go over what is allowed in the game or you may encounter problems. Check
the Game manual for maximum stats. When you have made your changes,
click save and your game will be ready to load. A copy of the orignial
BALDUR.GAM file is saved with the name BALDUR.GAM.MBE. Remove the extension
and delete the modified file to use the original
.Known Issues
-Specialty mages are not getting their bonus spell.
-Specialty mage selection appears even when character is not a mage.
-Reputation doesn't seem to always work.
Future Plans
Not really any future plans because Devarrah is doing such a great job
with IRE

*MacBGEditorLite v1.0 is still available.
It is a character editor (.chr files) not a saved game editor. It does
not require the swing libraries but has fewer features.
